I would be terrified lifting a van that high with such a small base area, have seen them used and can imagine the damage someone could do if not used on a flat area, I know you wouldn't be so stupid @Bluey but have seen some trying to fix a flat with a side lift on the side of the road............... nice bit of kit if used properly but too damn heavy for me and no way I would lift from side of van....

Fiat Ducato, Merc engine and gearbox...... pity they are front wheel drive

As I mentioned earlier about doing a roof in some Thermo Sheild, application on a clean surface was pretty easy, we just rolled and brushed it on, gave it 3 coats in the end, mate just trowlled it on his side I was trying to make it nice but he said who is going to see, fair enough so one side is reasonable smooth the other is not, we gave it a couple of coats of clear gloss stuff, the paint is a matt and needs a gloss/sealer, its water based and the finish can be good........ winter up here should be over in a week or so then might be able to tell how good the stuff is...........

Hi,
well some major progress has been made today. Last year, I bought some silver White Knight rust guard to paint the axle of the Penguin.
Well, over the past few days, I finally got around to putting the van on blocks and sanding the axle down. Today, the first coat of paint has been applied. Hopefully, weather permitting, the second coat will go on tomorrow and I can cross that task off my list. Only 346,723 tasks left to go.

Flushed with this fantastic progress, I now plan to paint the bottom of the floor while it is still on the blocks.
Did consider buying some expensive specialty paint, but I have 20l of mission green Dulux exterior house paint that will just have to do.

take care
Mike

@Bluey i should get ours done properly.. done it a couple of times at Broadford we get close..
Again bloody TBM does not help.
Not sure it's open yet? It's been closed for months as they were waiting on a part, and when I drove past it just before the last lockdown it was in pieces. Shame as I used to use it frequently. Wish Vicroads would update their website to show whether open or closed.

Interesting to know, I use the weighbridge every time I head past, and as you say the gates been across for a very long time. I presumed the turds have just decided to close it off to public use, and after the last time noticing there's only a gate blocking the approach I thought why not just reverse up from the other side. A sign would have been helpful. There are always VicRoad Nazis in there ... you gotta ask why if the weighbridge is broken and they aren't the repair crew. (a rhetorical question I know what they're doing, sweet FA on our purse)

OK so I got confirmation from vicroads. And I'm actually quite amazed at their response

"Hi, the weighbridge has been repaired but I believe that the site is currently being used by DHHS as a Covid-19 testing site for commercial freight workers. Thanks, Megan"

Like seriously wtf, of all the places to use, they use a publicly access weighbridge.
