I will keep saying you didnt have to sell it but now you will complain and compaire foreva only one to blame is you if the troopy isnt the car you thought it would be but it dose have the hardest suspension eva the nav could still be parked out front of your house im harsh but fair i think should have got a 200 series lol lol lol

Your never going to get that floatable Barbie Table now @Bluey ................................. See the problem is after years of having a fancy FWD Car he now has a proper FWD Truck and will take time to fully appreciate the magnificence of having such a versatile vehicle while I have stepped backwards to yuppieville and don't think I will ever truly feel at home................ but I do like planting the right foot WOW.

Gee Crusty181 were those fuel usage figures correct ? Computer or real.My mates new Troopy is sucking way more fuel.
Fuel in and km's travelled. Computer, bwaaaahaaa, your funny ... its a Troopy, the extent of its computer system peaks at the multiscreen dash clock/stop watch/alarm.

Im no automotive engineer but the short gearing would suggest if i decided to drive in excess of the 90kph i generally sit around, i would pay dearly for that decision. Suits me tho

200? Is that in reference to its payload in kg's.

I would improve the air flow to allow it to suck as much air as it wants, upgrading the air intake, same filter though. Tyres on these things can make a huge difference, besides you don't need to bust a gut to get anywhere really, you are in kindergarten for retirement........ No rushing........ This Mine Truck will show itself as a dream machine way better than any Navara.... Its where the G60 should have ended up if Nissan hadn't lost the plot........

Ha lol payload ..... im not complaining great fule figures comfy stlyish up to date with cars of this erea the wife likes it plenty of power enough payload for me i want to take less not more i dont need a outdated truck that can carry 6.5 tonne plus the van to go camping
A smooth drum rollar would have suspension simalar to yours as they have none or maybe my excavator
As for the Surf board @Drover well i lost that ages ago he now uses that as a ploy to upset me if i feel down i just sit im my 200 all pain goes away
Did you hear Rip Curl got sold for 350 million as you say he will come around to loveing the new truck what navara remember you had one once .....

Im at the Bega cheese heritage centre (we like cheese), and they have a btand new 2019 70 series GXL on display ... suspension upgrade, and 6.5ton onboard

On the way home today from NSW with the van, i weigh us at the VicRoads site at Trafalgar.

Van 3060kg, 60kg over with full tanks (our vans atm was originally lowered to suit the 3t Nav capacity)
Troopy 3120kg with almost full tanks and 300kg tbm

..... I still have 800kg Troopy payload to play with

Why would you lower the ATM ????? So long as the actual weight of the tow is not more than the rated tow capacity of the tug all is good, its the numbers on the scale that count not what is stamped on a plate.

But @Drover , what happens if the van ATM is 2400kg, the axle rating is 2500kg and you load up the van until it weighs 3000kgs or more (disregarding ball weight in this case)? Even though the tug may have a tow capacity of 3500kg, the van is well over the limit and could also put the CGM over the limit as well. Or am I confused??

You are right of course purely looking at numbers but there are more things to consider and holistically it's not so simple. When things go pear-shaped everything is taken into account and much will hinge on intent, and reasonableness to gauge culpability. At a roadside weight check it would make little difference, but when things go very very wrong, it makes a significant difference. When youre wrong, youre wrong ... but your intent is what dictates the penalty

Your right Boots, but I understood the point @Drover was making was from the angle of my actual car and van, which he knows intimately from having it parked in his driveway ... and to be fair it's very difficult when looking at a mighty Navara D40 V6, to consider that it actually apparently does have limitations ... so they say

Your confused........................ Read the post again, You won't get fined just because the plate is stamped higher than your tow cap its the figures on the scale........ I was referring to the ATM being lowered to match a vehicle tow capacity, the rated ATM only governs the max weigh of the unit, if the tugs tow cap is less than the ATM/GTM then it is on the operator to ensure that the van weight doesn't exceed the tugs tow cap/GCM and a miriad of other load points like the rest of us.................. of course in the real world if your tow cap was 2.5t you wouldn't be able to even tow a modern van with an ATM of 3.2t as even being fully empty it would be too heavy....lol,lol,lol.....

and yep @Crusty181 , its in the fine detail, dropping ATM would chew into load cap as the base line load can't be really reduced....... Now can it be increased with out drama or another saga to go thru ?????/

The dealer who organised the ATM reduction has acquired amnesia, so Ive moved on from them. A may have an engineer that will add half a ton back on ... just by me paying him money, and him looking at the van thru engineer eyes. All in all a total 1100kg payload and not a single modification other than to my wallet ... stay tuned

Never really confused @Drover , as I realize it it is the figures on the weigh scale that count, not what the compliance place states, as long as scale weight does not exceed plate figures. Agree with you about a low tow cap and a heavy ATM (or Tare) for van not being compatible, although many a vanner tries to pull vans with small capacity AWD vehicles.
